Club of the Year
We are multiple winners of the prestigious title “Club of the Year” which is awarded by Sefton Sports Council in recognition of out outstanding work in promoting the club and its efficient organisation
In January 2008 the club was pleased in achieving recognition of its hard work in gaining “Clubmark” accreditation from Merseyside Sports Partnership, which is nationally recognised through Sport England, and this will also be recognised by the Archery GB (Grand National Archery Society) our national governing body. The Club has maintained this high standard to this day.
This is proof that we as a club have met quality standards in; Duty of care and child protection, Sports Equality and Ethics, and Club Management
Hosts of BLBS Clout Shoot
We annually host the British Longbow Society (B.L.B.S.) clout shoot, and have just welcomed those entrants again for another hugely successful event.
We are one of the few clubs in the area to have held an international tournament, and we have excellent facilities allowing target, clout, and 3D shooting, all at the same time if required, on our large outdoor field. We have held an international tournament, for the World Firefighter Games in 2008, where firefighters from all over the world compete against one another every two years in an atmosphere of friendly competition and camaraderie
We are a very friendly club, and allow visitors to shoot on payment of a small fee and proof of GNAS or FITA membership. We would like to welcome unattached archers to our club with the hope of them taking membership.
Chernobyl Childrens Charity
We have also hold an annual event to entertain children from Belorussia who are still suffering from the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear accident all those years ago. (See more here..)
We are committed to working within our community and beyond, we have visited local schools and community groups to inform, educate and entertain them, about archery in all its forms.
The club has a strong association with many local schools and agencies, other archery clubs on Merseyside; various sport organisations; Sefton Leisure Services and Sefton Sports Council, and Sports UK. Each year we participate with Sefton Council to help promote sport and improve the health and wellbeing of local residents, by engaging with local schoolchildren during the long summer holidays, where they have a choice of trying many different types of sport, all for free. Archery is one of the most sought after pastimes we are regularly over subscribed.
